Changing sparkplugs on a 1998 buick lesabre...need help!?

the car has a v-6 engine, so i have 3 plugs in the front and 3 in the back. i changed the front 3, no problem. the back 3 are more tricky. the sparkplug boot is encased in a metal cylinder. Also, it's hard to get my hand down there without taking off the crossbar, so i'm not working with a lot of space.

problem: how can i pull the boot out of the metal cylinder and reach the sparkplug without having to take it to the mechanic or pull the engine out.

that crossbar is easily removable. there are 2 13mm bolts on each side. after that, get a long pair of 45 degree needle nosers and grasp the boot just above the metal protector. twist both ways and pull. they will come out easily this way. don't be afraid to get a little violent. if you break a boot, you'll need a set of plug wires. don't use a damaged boot, it will misfire during heavy humidity weather. and do it with the engine cold so you don't get 10th degree burns on your forearmChanging sparkplugs on a 1998 buick lesabre...need help!?
i know exactly what your talking about. my oldsmobile has those metal things too and what i use is a long handle channel locks and grab the cylinder and yank on it. they come off the plug.Changing sparkplugs on a 1998 buick lesabre...need help!?
