Spark plugs on 2006 saturn ion 2.2 liter?

I was in the process of changing sparklugs on my saturn when I had to stop because I didnt have the right socket. All I did was remove the cap above the sparkplugs and then put it back on. Now the car is misfiring and I suspect one of the sparkplugs is not igniting. How do I fix this.Spark plugs on 2006 saturn ion 2.2 liter?
well since you didnt have the right socket for the spark plugs then im assuming you never removed any of the plugs so the only thing is that you either mixed up the spark plug wires or you didnt push the wire on the spark plug hard enough usually youll hear kind of a little click when you put the wire on the plug but i think you most likely just mixed up some wires

How much does a a tuneup for a 2000 honda accord cost? I have some large varied quotes.?

I jave a 2000 4 cylinder honda accord. This is my first time to get a tuneup on a honda accord, i took it to the dealer and they said they dont do tuneups, but do service plans that includes other stuff which would cost me $399 for and if it needs spark plugs it would be an additional $300, total 699. I've had cars before and done tuneups and only cost me like 50.00. I went to an independant auto service place, and they quoted me 60.00 and 90.00 with top of the line platinum sparkplugs. Why is there so much difference? I've never done a tuneup on a honda. Any one what have any of you paid for a tuneup or change of spark plugs if you have a honda? these seems very expensive and a big price gap.How much does a a tuneup for a 2000 honda accord cost? I have some large varied quotes.?
First off Never go to dealer for things you can do youself and a dealer that says they dont do tune-ups but want to sell u a service plan is B.S all that means is they want to get 4 times the money to do a simple tune-up. At very least they should Sell a basic Tune and then if they want to rip u off try to sell u the plan but to not give u an option i wouldnt let them put air in my tires again if U. Cost of a tunes depends on what all you want the tune to include Where i work we have options Basic tune is PLugs clean Throttle body set timing air filter. Your car about $100 est. Major tune is all from basic + wires cap rotor fuel filter about $250 but do it your self in you need info to do email me kmp1171@att.netHow much does a a tuneup for a 2000 honda accord cost? oh my ****** god dude

go spend like a fraction on the oil and spark plugs and oil filter and all that crap and go google %26quot;How to perform a tune-up%26quot; on google and read up

you can save yourself thousandsHow much does a a tuneup for a 2000 honda accord cost? I have some large varied quotes.?
I used to have a honda civic by the way, they are a great car. I would buy the best things and I would spend around 40-50 dollars..Its easy to do a tune up..I would recommend that you should do it yourself so you can have the extra money...I WOULD NEVER SERVICE MY VEHICLES ON A DEALER, THEY ARE A RIP OFF!!!!!!How much does a a tuneup for a 2000 honda accord cost? I have some large varied quotes.?
agreed dont go to delership go to a small time mechanic shop if you cant do it your self, pay no more than 40 when u buy the parts at most, also cheap spark plugs are just as good plus if you buy the parts before you bring then to the mechanic itll be even cheaper.GOOD TIP - rub some oil on your hands wear some ripped up dirty jeans and maybe a lil on the face walk in like you own the place with the parts and say %26quot;I NEED THESE PUT IN THATS IT%26quot;wait for him to offer you a price. for the parts go to autozone tell the what kinda car you got and what u need and theyll hook you up but even the try to give u the most expensive parts cuz they make more commission so tell them U want the least expensive

P.S

Sparkplugs 1.99 eachHow much does a a tuneup for a 2000 honda accord cost? I have some large varied quotes.?
If you can just get someone to replace plugs and wires, check or replace the dist, cap and replace belts if needed. Should cost about fifty if you do it on at the most about 150.00 if you take it someplace. My advice is keep the oil changed and if it aint broke dont fix it

Problem with my car.?

my ford feista keeps cutting out when i change down in to either 1st or 2nd. it doesnt stall or make any noise it just turns off. it also will stall if im not moving whether im in gear (with the clutch in) or not in gear, unless i keep the accelerator pressed in a bit.

ive taken it to 2 macanics. one cleaned something and the other replaced the oil filter, air filter and the sparkplugs. the second did stop it for a week ot two but its doing it agen.

a friend says her daughters fiesta is doing the same thing and that a friend had a simaler problem and it was something to do with a box under the car (know idea what it is)

he said to have it put on a digonostic machine.

so my Q's are.

Does any one know what is the problem with it and what needs to be done to fix it?

and

How much would it cost if i have to put it on a dignostic machine? (as my normal machinic aint got one) (uk prices please not dollers)

ThanksProblem with my car.?
Depends on the age of the Fiesta as to whether you will get much info out of a diagnostic reading. Ford garages will charge you about 拢45 - 拢60 plus VAT for a diagnostic reading but there are mobile diagnostic engineers around who will come to you and read the computer on your car - my husband does it. So check your Yellow Pages and Yell.com and get a diagnostic reading first before you start changing parts and spending lots of money!Problem with my car.?
could be a fuel problemProblem with my car.?
You

need to be looking for air leaks

on the induction side

any air leak will cause this problemProblem with my car.?
depending on the year you can take to a autozone parts store and they plug it in for no charge.Problem with my car.?
It could be the mass air flow meter/sensor. The same thing happened on my Audi A3 (Specific makes have specific problems but the fact is that cars are cars and they all work the same). It cost me 拢140.00 to go on the diagnostic machine and get it fixed (But that was a back street garage who specialise in VW and Audi), main dealers would charge near 拢100 just for the diagnostics as they make you pay for the use of the machine PLUS 1 hour of labour for the mechanic to sit in your car pressing buttons on the machine.

As you can tell my advise (As long as the car is out of warranty) is to find a local mechanic who knows Fords - there are loads around if your prepared to go down the back streets rather than shiny dealerships, you will be amazed at the savings.

94' accord with 186K, how to make it run & last longer?

i just baught this car for $600 from my buddy, the car is freshly inspected 3-09 and is in great shape besides 2 dents. the car has 186K and i have ordered a few parts to hopefully make this car last a little longer, if you have any tips or anything useful i'd greatly apperciate it.

ive baught new headers cause the stock ones are from 94' and the heat shield rattles and annoys me so i got new one for $62 from ebay, i also baught a new intake$40(i'm not trying to turn it into a ricer) new sparkplugs $20, oil filter$ 10 and am getting a fuel filter $10 aswell...i am going to get highmileage oil when i change the oil this weekend as well as a tranny flush....any other suggestions would be great! thanks, richard94%26039; accord with 186K, how to make it run %26amp; last longer?
It sounds as if you had it checked out and its ok. Just keep up with the regular maintenance. Change the oil, belts, and filters.

The serpentine belts are on the front of your engine block. They run off the crank and powers your a/c compressor, alternator, power steering, and water pump.

Check the timing belt too. That connects your crank to the cams. If it slips or breaks your car will either run poorly or not start at all.

Don't worry about warming the engine up before driving. Its a waste of money. Just don't drive the it hard until the engine is warmed up.94%26039; accord with 186K, how to make it run %26amp; last longer?
Looks like you're doing all the right things. I would flush all the fluids and just stay on top of the oil. Seems like you're gonna give it a basic tune up and it shouldn't give you any serious problems. Don't forget to replace the serpentine belt.94%26039; accord with 186K, how to make it run %26amp; last longer?
You really have two belts. One runs the alternator and the other runs the power steering and A/C. You really don't want either to break.

Also, don't forget the timing belt if not done already.94%26039; accord with 186K, how to make it run %26amp; last longer?
all of the above are correct..to make it last longer? find a low mileage engine..ull realize all the power u gained back from a low milage engine ..for a $600 1994 accord its well worth it to give it a new heart and sell ur motor for the price u bought the car for.my 2 pennies94%26039; accord with 186K, how to make it run %26amp; last longer?
Tips to make it last:

1. Change the oil. Frequently.

2. Warm the engine before driving (painful to do with gas at $3.75 but I consider it an investment in making the engine last longer. I think it's working).

3. Go gently on the accelerator.

4. If there is anything wrong, have it fixed promptly.

My current vehicle is a 1990 plymouth voyager mini-van. Currently at 325,000 miles and still running well. Previous vehicle was identical year and model, had 264,000 when tranny went out and it was cheaper to buy another vehicle. Vehicle prior to that was GMC Jimmy with about 325,000 miles on it when I gave it away.94%26039; accord with 186K, how to make it run %26amp; last longer?

Sparkplug gap mustang 2000 v6 wrong?

i replaced my sparkplugs for my mustang and they were all gapped at around .063

these spark plugs were put in before i bought the car, and i think the dealership had them changed

i know its supposed to be .054, and thats what i put the new ones at, but why would those be so far off...and how would that affect the car's performance then and now and how would the difference wear the car down?

basically, my question is, is it a big deal that they werent what they are supposed to be?

thanksSparkplug gap mustang 2000 v6 wrong?
Not a big deal, but if you're concerned, its easy to pull the plugs and re-gap them to the correct gap!Sparkplug gap mustang 2000 v6 wrong?
Modern coils are quite capable of firing an extra .009 gap with no ill effects. It was just a mistake by someone. You have nothing to worry about.

MikeSparkplug gap mustang 2000 v6 wrong?
You can gap the plug more until the point where the coil doesn't produce enough spark to jump the gap. Which will result in a misfire. With a bigger gap, you can burn fuel more efficiently, but it can make it harder to start on colder days.

    Tips about switching bikes?

I was wondering how hard it is to switch from a 4 stroke 80cc to a 2 stroke 250cc any tips on how i should adapt to it??

BQ: Any tips on how often i should check up on things in the engine, such as sparkplug oil etc.Or how often i should change them?? Thanks for reading :DTips about switching bikes?
it would be equivalent to going from a Chevy chevette to a mclaren sports car...there's going to be a significant amount of power difference between the two.another thing to remember is that the power delivery from a 4 stroke is predictable..opposed to a 2 stroke which is unpredictable compared to a 4 stroke.as a previous post said it would be a good idea to start with something smaller than a 250cc..i would have to agree.

keep in mind that while 2 strokes are easier to rebuild (less parts),but they require more rebuild time because of the lack of lubrication.it's a good rule of thumb to rebuild a 2 stroke engine every 100 to 200 hours of leisure riding or if compression readings are below the manufacturers specs or every 2 to 3 races.

another good habit if your going to be switching over to a 2 stroke is to always carry an extra spark plug..as 2 stroke engines are known for fouling the plug faster due to the oil premix that's in the fuel.also, it's always a good idea to keep your gas/oil ratio within the manufacturers specs..going too rich will make the engine spit sputter and not run right..while running the engine too lean will most certainly cause the engine running too hot and will result in engine wear,or even worse engine seize.

hope this helps, and good luck*****Tips about switching bikes?
that would be insane. and 80cc 4 stroke is a trail bike that is slow and torquey. a 2 stroke 250 is the equivalent of a 450 race bike. Also, being a two stroke it aint easy to ride. you really have to know what you're doing and at no point can you get lazy on it. i would really suggest like a 85 2t or maybe even a 125 2 stroke. the 250 is just too much

the nice thing about a 2 stroke is that they dont require much maintenance. check the oil after every ride, spark plug only when it fouls. oil should be changed often. i do mine every 7-10 hours depending on how hard i rode. Since youre a newbie, take a wrench and another spark plug with you when riding. you will most likely foul one or two when getting used to it

1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?

    I currently own an DLX v6 89 camry and am looking for advice to improve my gas mileage %26quot;19 city/ 24 highway mpg%26quot;

but I'm only getting about 18 on the highway for some reason

Please answer as many of my questions as you can, I appreciate your help

    1) How do I know how much air to pump into my tires? (size: P195/60R15)

    2) What kind of oil should I use to change my oil and is 5 quarts enough for a v6 engine?

    3) What kind of antifreeze/coolant fluid do I use (color)?

    4) Engine hesitates sometimes on startup, then dies, making me restart the engine again, could this be the sparkplugs?

    5) Any additional advice you can give me?1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
1 35 lbs should be enough for that size

2 Depending on the miles on the motor and the temps you drive in, 10w40 to 20w50, if you have high mileage, as i suppose you do and you drive in hot temps you can even mix the to. 20w50 is thicker oil for higher mileage motors and higher temps. Start with 4 and a half quarts on a fresh oil change and start the engine. Shut it off and check the level and add accordingly.

3 It takes green, but you can get coolant that will work for any type or color (universal).

4 Yes it could be plugs, but if that doesnt work, try cleaning the throttle body.

5 The back valve cover and the front seals by the timing belt love to leak oil on these higher mileage motors. Hope that helps and Good Luck to you.1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
your tire pressure is sometimes located on the sticker on the driver side door jamb or in the owners manual. you cant go by the tire because every car is different us conventional motor oil which ever weight it calls for an change it every 3000 miles have your coolant changed every 2-3 years unless it is really bad then trust your mechanic on how often to get caught up try changing your plugs and wires it sounds more like your wires are bad most importantly change your air filter you can also have your fuel filter changed1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
Keep your tires at about 30 psig cold

Oil will depend on the climate but 10W40 to 5W 30 will be fine

    Coolant does not matter

Need a tune up, plugs rotor gas and air filter

Driving style will save the most millage anticipate stops, easy acceleration, keep your highway speeds at 55, don't idle for long periods of time etc1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
    1) 35psi.2)get 6 qts. im sure it leaks.3)green.4)tune up cold start valve-injector. water in gas intake needs to be cleaned out. new air filter.

Water in engine and water in oil how do i flush it all out?

i have removed the spark plug, flushed the carburator, and drained the intake system.motor had been turned over without sparkplug to blow water out of cylinder.I have changed the oil twice to flush it the oil is still comming out white. is there a better way to remove the water from the engine.Water in engine and water in oil how do i flush it all out?
Motorcycles seem to be real good at mixing the oil and water together so you'll probably be doing several oil changes no matter what. I add some diesel fuel to the oil on cars that have blown a head gasket and run them for a while and then drain. The oil/water mix seems to get sticky and really stays put when you drain it, the diesel fuel helps dissolve it. I'm assuming you got it running again.Water in engine and water in oil how do i flush it all out?
Yeah there is a better way, replace your leaking intake or head gasket.Water in engine and water in oil how do i flush it all out?
Take your car to a mechanic and have the Head or head gasket replaced, whatever is stuffed. Then change your oil ad coolent.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong withh my car pls?

I have a 1989 v6 2.8 fuel inj that shuts down everytime it reaches normal temp and change gears. It wont start after that until later. Ive changed rotor, pick up coil, dist cap, sparkplugs, wires, fuel pump, fuel filter. People tell me its the camshaftsensor, map sensor, crankshaft position sensor but my car doesnt have any of these. The only i havent bought new is fuel pump relay. Ive ran out of ideas on how to fix the car. Pls pls can anyone tell what is wrong with my car. ThanksCan anyone tell me what is wrong withh my car pls?
A common problem with these is the pickup coil that fires the fuel injectors. Try squirting a small amount of fuel into the intake and see if it starts. Could even be an overheating fuel pump. Can anyone tell me what is wrong withh my car pls?
your vehicle should have an ignition module....these can cause problems when old age and heat takes it's toll .....Can anyone tell me what is wrong withh my car pls?
Its something that is heating up it sounds like. This must be a Chevy 2.8L, I had a 85 S10 with the 2.8 and 5 speed. It was carbed though.

Try this test, after you get it to temp and it shuts off and wont start on you. Pull a spark plug and attach it back to plug wire, lay the spark plug thread onto a piece of metal on vechicle where you can see it. Have someone try to start truck and see if you can eye any spark across it. If no spark, it may be the computer or coil. Something on the ignition circuit.

Bad plugs almost always show up as misfire under load. You will find a particular point on the throttle (varies with the incline of the road and engine temperature) where the engine power actually drops and the engine runs rough if you go past it, then comes back when you let off a bit, just like there was a switch doing it.

You don't mention make, model, or year, and power loss problems often depend a lot on that.

    2003 Saab 9-3 sparkplugs help...?

How do you change the sperkplugs in a 2003 saab 9-3 and the a/c belt? I need to save some cash and if I can do it myself that is almost $150 in labor. Please help me out or send me a link.2003 Saab 9-3 sparkplugs help...?
It may sound easy that anyone can just put plugs in a car but I will tell you as a professional tech that almost every week I get customers who have taken their Saab to a general repair shop for simple repairs or do it themselves and now something is wrong with their Saab as a direct consequence of the other repairs. Last week while performing a major service, I was unable to remove a spark plug. Turns out that customers brother replaced the plugs previous year and cross threaded the plug in the Cyl head. Cost of correction $175 vs cost of plug replacement of $75. Believe me when I tell you this, it is much cheaper to have a professional saab tech do the job.

As far as what your Saab needs. I do not know any service that only requires Belt and plug replacements. Majority of Saabs on the road that does not get repaired and serviced by Saab repair shop end of failing and breaking down more often and cost much much more to keep running over the years. Your model saab requires a service that involves much more than just replacing few parts. Pay attention to the list of inspection items and make sure some one who knows your car gets to look at it. This way you dont end of driving with a worn out hose or a leak and then end up having to pay much more to get it fixed after it fails.

    Now from your question, it sound like you have never replaced a spark plug or belt. If you did then you would know where the plugs are located and by looking at it would have known what to do. If you think that you are saving money, think twice and be ready to keep towing your Saab to a repair shop for work that can be spotted and fixed ahead of time by a pro. You know the old saying;

    %26quot;YOU CAN PAY ME NOW OR YOU CAN PAY ME LATER%26quot;

Here is a very sound advise, Take an Automotive course at the local college or trade school and get yourself familiarized with the type of car repairs you want to be doing. This way you can fix your own car and know how to fix it for the rest of your life.

What might fix this engine problem with my '89 Buick Century?

    Problem:

The engine on my '89 Buick Century(V6) has lost much of its power. It doesn't accelerate well, it climbs hills at no more than 25 mph, and the engine revs very high when going on the freeway. I first thought it was a transmission problem because it seems like it is not shifting when it needs to, but I took it to a tran specialist and he said it just needed a tuneup.

So i've done this with my mechanic neighbor:

    changed oil and filter

    replaced sparkplugs and wires

    replaced fuel filter

    replaced air filter

    flushed radiator

    new battery

I still have the same problem, though my engine does run a little better. It also didn't pass DEQ after the tuneup, with HC just barely over the standard, and CO at 1.5 instead of 1.

Could it be a fuel injector problem, or perhaps the oxygen sensor or something electronic? How much would they cost? Thank you for any suggestions, I need to have my car fixed to drive it to Minnesota next week! What might fix this engine problem with my %26039;89 Buick Century?

since you've covered the trannry,is the check engine or service engine soon light on ?????If so you should have it hooked up to a scanner and have the engine data recorded,,,,could really be helpful....

a plugged or resticted catalitic converter can give you the same performance problem....

    check the fuel pressure

your airflow metr can cause similar issues but is easier to check with a scannerWhat might fix this engine problem with my %26039;89 Buick Century?
It sounds like a problem with the timing. the timing belt could have stretched or jumped a tooth. Have a diagnostic test run on it and have the timing checked. This will tell you if there is any problem with any sensors or the fuel injection system or the electronics. o2 sensors are fairly cheep but you need to find out what's wrong first before you start changing stuff. that could cost you more than the diagnostic test before you figured out whats wrong.

I would bet that it is in carburator bowl, float may be sticking. A carb rebuild would be affective and can be done professionaly at most mower shops. Over the winter those parts tend to seize up so a shot of wd40 in the carb may work, but i usually take carb bowl off and inspect that the float and needle travels up and down without hanging up, also soak those small parts in there with wd40. Good luckHow do I get my lawnmower to run?
You have forgotten the air filter.that may be your problem. I sometimes have to prime after it starts to get good gas thru systemHow do I get my lawnmower to run?
It is possible that the carburetor jet(s) is stopped up. If the carb has a bowl under it, the brass nut that secures it also acts as the jet. It has small holes in it that act as jets for the gas and sometime become clogged. Remove it and check the holes to see if they are clogged. ...Good Luck...

As children we always find a place that holds deep memories for us to remember. These memories could come from events that have occurred in the person life, places we go or see might trigger these memories from the past. As time went by, many changes have occurred in my city of Pasadena where I had some positive and negative memories as I was growing up that developed and influenced the way I chose to live my life.

Before we moved to Pasadena, my family lived in Chinatown, in Los Angeles. Our apartment had one bedroom, one bathroom, a small kitchen and a tiny living room. My father had to work hard to save enough money to move us into a bigger place. Eventually, he bought a house in Pasadena. The Pasadena house was quite different than the Chinatown apartment. It had a bigger living room and more bedrooms. Whereas the apartment was surrounded by commercial and other apartment buildings, empty lots surrounded the Pasadena house. The neighborhood was still in the construction phase and not many houses were built. The streets were unpaved and the sidewalks not yet poured. As time went by, the stages of construction compares to when I was a young child and then moving along the different stages of life, as I become an adult.

At that time, Pasadena did not have any parks with playgrounds for my friends and me to play. Therefore, there were a lot of open lots around the neighborhood of Pasadena where my friends and I would have our own sandlot. We would gather as many children around our neighborhood to play baseball. We made our own base path to run around and mark where the foul ball lines would be. There was also no grass in the outfield to slow the ball down, so if the ball reached the outfield it would skid along the dirt and passed the outfielders for a homerun. Another thing my friends and I would do is that we would bring shovels to make several dirt ramps by piling dirt together. Then we would use our bikes to jump off these ramps to see who would jump the highest and we would also try to do some tricks. Sometimes when I go by these open lots it brings back fond memories I had with my friends when we used to play in these lots.

As the years went by, the city of Pasadena started to change with more houses and buildings being built. Dirt roads are now covered by asphalt and streets finally have sidewalks. More people are starting to move into Pasadena as well as gang members. My memories of Pasadena have changed and it also made me feel ashamed to be living here, since these gang檚 would graffiti their names on commercial buildings, on people檚 houses with block walls, and on the sidewalls of liquor stores. These gangs want to put their names (gang signs or nick names) on these buildings to show who owns the territory; however, it has made my city look ugly. I remember a few times when the block walls on my house were covered with graffiti. This angered me so much that I wanted to catch these gang members who did this to my own house.

One of my memorable memories while living in Pasadena would be the influenced of my friend Joe檚 dad, next-door neighbor, who would teach us how to tune up a car. Joe檚 dad showed us how to use a car jack and where to put the car stands if we were going to change the oil from a car. He showed us what we had to unscrew, the nut, that was holding the old oil and also we have to unscrew the old oil filter and replace it with a new oil filter. Then he showed us where the oil needs to be poured into and how to check the level of oil so it would not overflow. He also showed us how to replace sparkplugs if we have to change it. By replacing new sparkplugs, he told us that we have to use the sparkplug gap for each new sparkplug because it needs to be the right gap size. To find the gap size he showed us how to find it up in the car manual. Besides teaching us how to tune up a car he would also try to get us involved in sports by enrolling us in leagues for baseball, basketball and football, so that way we would stay out of trouble. He was a man who I looked up to and who was there for me when I needed to talk. Joe檚 dad influenced me by being there and teaching me new things. As an adult, I am always involved in sports and I also know how to change the oil and replace sparkplugs when I need to tune up my car.

A horrible memory I had was when I went to Emerson Elementary School. It was down the street from my house where I went to elementary school. I was in the 4th grade at the time. It was during recess time and my friends and I found a body lying behind a tree where we were playing on the swings. I recognized the person because he was one of my classmate檚 brother檚 who was from a gang. He had a few bullets lodged in his chest with blood flowing out and onto the ground. We ran and told the teacher about it and Mrs. Johnson called the police. The police officers arrived and asked my friends and me what had happened. We told the police officers that we found the body lying behind the tree where the swings were located. The police officer went over to check if the person was still alive as Emergency crews were arriving. An Emergency helicopter was also on scene as it has flown onto school grounds and they wheeled the body onto the helicopter. School was let out early that day and I could not forget what had happened. At night, when I went to sleep I could not sleep because I could not forget what I had seen. The next day at school they announced that the person had died on his way to the hospital. This memory has stuck out through my life, as I could not forget what had happen on that day. It also influenced me by not joining a gang because I do not want to get shot and die.

Another negative memory I had was when I was playing Little League baseball. I was at Smith Park, just a few blocks away from my house. At the time, I was 10 years old playing for the Yankees. It was in the top of the 4th inning and I was playing left field. All of a sudden I heard gunshots fired. I ducked down to the ground and covered myself hoping the bullets would not hit me. People in the stands scattered all over the place as gunshots rang throughout the area. I did not get up from the ground until my coach came over and told me everything was safe and luckily no one was hurt. My teammates and I gathered around the dugout to talk about what had happened. I told them I was not scared at all and showed them I was brave, but deep inside I was scared and I felt my legs shivering. That day made a huge impact on my life because I do not want to live in a neighborhood where gunshots are being fired at a baseball game and where kids can be killed or injured.

By living in this neighborhood, of Pasadena, and having friends and family that are supportive made me realize that I want to succeed and to do better for myself. To get myself out of Pasadena by earning a college degree and getting an entry level job position. I want to live in a neighborhood where there is no graffiti on the walls and no gunshots being fired on a daily basis. In the retrospect these memories have made me appreciate the little things that life has to offer and have kept me going in the positive and not in the negative direction where it can ruin my life in the process.

Where can I find some DIY info on how to tune up a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt ?

Where can I find some DIY info on how to tune up a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt ? Sparkplugs, Rotor, Distributor Cap, Sparkplug Wires and Oil change.Where can I find some DIY info on how to tune up a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt ?
All modern cars self tune as you drive them. So you just replace parts that wear out. You got most the items of the tune up. Here's some more:

    (1) spark plugs

    (2) spark plug wires

    (3) distributors, coil, rotors (if you have them).

    (4) new air filter

    (5) PCV

    (6) correct tire pressure

    (7) clear the trunk of useless heavy items

    (8) spray clean MAF sensor.

    ==

The only thing you have to be careful is the spark plug - torque spec. Make sure it is NOT too tight NOR too loose.

Go to an auto parts store and get a Hanes manual. They have them for any modle of vehicle you can think of. Ive got one for every vehicle i own. They cover everything from tuning a vehicle up to rebuilding the engine. they are very handy with pictures and instructions on everything engine, electrical, body, drivetrain, maintence, etc. Around here they cost about $20. Any parts store will have them like Advance Auto, Autozone. Good luck and enjoy your Chevy.Where can I find some DIY info on how to tune up a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt ?
Your vehicle maintenance schedule can be found in your car's owner manual. As memory serves, there is no cap and rotor to mess with, as they went with coilpacks. Cobolts were advertised to have 100,000 mile maintenance intervals, so more than likely, you will not need to change the plugs, wires, or coilpacks at this time. Oil changes, well, best basic rule on that is 3 months, 3000 miles between changes. Good luck.

How do i get to sparkplugs on a 95 toyota previa?

replace the cap rotor wires while your there. I hate taking these apart more than I have to.How do i get to sparkplugs on a 95 toyota previa?
Is this the v6 model? If so you have to use a allen wrench and remove the 2 bolts holding the plastic cover on top that says V6 3000. Then there are 3 coil packs. unplug those and remove them. once you remove them there will be a long hole under each one. inside there is a spark plug using a 5/8 spark plug socket you can remove them. the other 3 are on the opposite side ( towards the rear of the car) adjacent to the firewall. you can find those by following the spark plug wires. You probly wont be able to see them but like a blind man in an orgy you can feel your way around. Good luck. How do i get to sparkplugs on a 95 toyota previa?
It may seem strange but there is a panel that is under the carpeting on the passenger side toward the front of the passenger compartment. If you remove the front passenger seat and the few bolts that hold it's base to the floor, you can pull the carpet back enough to expose a panel with 5 or 6 12mm bolts in it. Remove the bolts and the panel to expose a black cover with 2 allen screws in it. Remove the allen screws/cover and you will see the plug wires. Remove the plug wires from their respective wells and you will see the spark plugs.

I have 2001 neon with a 4 cyl 2.0l engine manual trans that has an oil leak around the 2 sparkplug tube on the valve cover. is the gasket a good place to start looking and is it a DIY project. I have good mechinical knowledge and a fair amount of expereince. How do you change the valve cover gasket on a 2001 dodge neon?
on that one its real easy ,just mark the spark plug wires with a piece of tape and remove them ,then remove anything else in the way and then remove the nuts that hold it on,and it will come off, clean it real good before you install it and wipe around it really good so you,ll be able to tell if you have any more leaks, good luck ,if you take your time with it,you can do it ,and do a good job with it.How do you change the valve cover gasket on a 2001 dodge neon?
it is definitely the gasket and its an easy task. just label the spark plug wires so you dont cross them and it should unscrew very simply. the gasket should only be $5-10. its probably only a 20 minute job.

How easy to change new gasket 1995 altima where the sparkplug or oil cap is located. I dont know what you call that whole big metal thingy. It is sputtering front the front and is making a mess in the front hose and radiator. When i look at it closely, all i need to do is take out 4 spark plugs, 8 or 9 screws and the whole thing will come off so i can replace the gasket?? Seems pretty easy access that won't hurt my knuckles cause it all on top surface lol. make sense? Anyone done it on their nissan Altima 1995?How easy to change gasket 1995 altima where the sparkplug or oil cap?
its exactly what u just described. its maybe like 8 bolts that go around the perimeter of the valve cover and you simply remove them peel off the old gasket which is probably stuck to either the cylinder head or the valve cover, and then place the new one in the groove of the valve cover, remove the small circle gaskets for the spark plugs, and bolt down. theres a specific torque specification for valve covers, but if you torque it down equally across all the bolts, and snug it real good you should have no problem. How easy to change gasket 1995 altima where the sparkplug or oil cap?
AT YOUR LOCAL DEALERHow easy to change gasket 1995 altima where the sparkplug or oil cap?
Good job on doing things yourself!! Yeah, you can do it! Just make sure to tighten a little on one side, then the other all the way around like a tire. If you don't do it that way, it could pinch the gasket and it will leak. If you have an overhead cam, it is called a valve cover.

    Uh..........It needs the battery.How to start a 4-wheeler without a battery?
Could you pop start it as with a stick-shift car? I don't know much about ATVs but if its a standard transmission, you should be able to roll it with the clutch in, and in gear, then pop the clutch, then when it starts, put the clutch back in. Still, I'd just buy a new battery...How to start a 4-wheeler without a battery?
Pop start it. Have some one push you down the road, then push in the clutch n put it in second and let the clutch out while your rolling a decent speed. It being in gear will start the magneto n give you a spark n should continue to do so as long as nothing else is wrong.

N if this is what you call jerk starting then just clean out your carb n drag it behind a car pop starting it until it stays running. How to start a 4-wheeler without a battery?

your on the right track with all youve done so far. get a batt. and some starting fluid. use only a small shot. good luck .i just got 4 of them runnin like your doin. the clutch will most be frozen tooHow to start a 4-wheeler without a battery?
yea just find a hill and push it a lil and have it in neutral and then when u have pretty good speed pull the clutch and shift it into 2nd and it should take offHow to start a 4-wheeler without a battery?
There HAS to be a battery in there or it will never start.

(that has been true of the atv's I've owned)How to start a 4-wheeler without a battery?
Pull the plug and pour a teaspoon of gas into the hole, put the plug back in and try to start...make sure all the old gas is out of the tank, fuel lines and fuel bowl on the carb if you can---put fresh gas in the tank and try to start. It may start and run for a few seconds and die--just repeat the procedure on putting gas in the spark plug hole...no more than a teaspoon of gas. If it takes more than 4 or 5 tries to keep it running, then you'll probaby need to spray down the carb throat and passages with carb cleaner or replace the carb or rebuild it. If it uses a 12 volt battery, you could try to jump start it with a car battery too.How to start a 4-wheeler without a battery?
it probably wont start real good because its going to have a varnish like build up in the carburetor on it,and this will cause it to either flood or not get no gas at all ,i just went through this with mine it sat for two years, and even with a new battery it wouldn't start,it wont getting any gas to it,there a lot of cleaning to do on the fuel system when one sets like that .its really hard on anything to let it set,but you,ll wind up having to remove and clean the carburetor on it,and also replace the plug on it old plugs wont usually fire real good, good luck with it.

Also make sure none of your fuel lines have leaks, might be sucking in air through them. I'd start with the type of gas. Then Go to the Compression check. It's easy and cheap to do.

What sparkplugs do I need for a suzuki vitara v6?

Have a 1995 suzuki vitara v6 2 litre (1998 cc) petrol engine. Manual shows how to change plugs (which is rather more complicated than a normal engine would be) but not which ones to replace them with. Don't really want to take the engine apart before we get the replacements. Any advice would be appreciated. Suzuki will only supply ' champion' which aren't much good apparently.ThanksWhat sparkplugs do I need for a suzuki vitara v6?

How much should it cost to replace sparkplugs and have the timings optimized?

my car is a 2001 mitsu eclipse GT and i want to change the spark plugs. I bought the 6 spark plugs and i was wondering what the typical price a mechanic would charge for replacing them and also have the timings adjusted. I would appreciate the help. How much should it cost to replace sparkplugs and have the timings optimized?
The timing is pre- set at the factory(no change).Save yourself about $85.00 in labor and put your own plugs in or have a friend do it.How much should it cost to replace sparkplugs and have the timings optimized?
why do you want to change your timing? unless you have a reasonable explanation to do so i wouldn't recommend it. as far as your sparks, you could do it yourself with the help of a mechanically inclined person helping you.

good luckHow much should it cost to replace sparkplugs and have the timings optimized?
Well now you can change the plugs yourself wouldnt cost ya a dime .a mechanic will cost more .. i wouldnt change the timeing unless it has jumped timeing . if you do your just asking for more problems

What are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?

    I have a 1984 Ford F-150 truck with a 302 V8 engine in it. 5.0L.

Anyway, how do I know if i need new spark plugs? I changed the distributor cap and rotor pin because they were all messed up but the sparks and wires i am not sure about. I have the plugs now but I dont want to change them if they dont need it. What will the truck do if the sparks in it are bad? What are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
it will be kind of hard to start, and will run a little sluggish,it may also loose power a lot,and not like going over hills real good,it will run weak all the time, usually when an engine is right they start up real fast, and run extremely good,id at least check the plugs in it to see if they was gaped right,if the gap gets too large in them they will use a lot more gas, good luck on it.What are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
    Hi raven,

Just take out the spark plug and see the condition and follwow the link..which will give out a good idea about the aprk oplug condition. To check a sparkplug and wire condition just pull out a Splug and connected to the connetor and get it touch with a earth like engine block or any unpainted nut and ask your helper to crank the engine ,the sparkplug should give out a blue spark.if it is yellow the parkplug may be bad.

In your case since it is a 1984 vehicle you better change the spark plug wires and spark plugs..which will make a complete tuned vehicle. All the best.

    regards,

    Nataraj

BahrainWhat are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
Change them now. You have already done 1/3 of a tune up already. You may find them to look bad when you remove them.

Rough running and bad gas mileage and horse power lose are some symptoms. What are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
Misfire (miss), poor performance, bad gas mileage, black smoke on occasions... But for a ford owner, none of this is new. What are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
they should look pretty clean, normal. not worn, melted, electrode or any part of the plug dammaged. but most cars will have a carbon deposits on them. What are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
It's not that difficult, go ahead and do it one day when you are bored. What are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
change them every 10-15 k miles regardless . You could pull one out and look at it . Usual symptoms could be rough idle, poor gas mileage , poor acceleration ,and poor throttle response .etcWhat are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
Put the new spark plugs in the truck if you have them already, you may need wires too. Usually when you have problems with spark plugs or any other part of the electrical firing system, the car will lose power when put under a load ( going up hill, etc. )What are the symptoms of sparkplugs going bad?
If they have been in for more than 10000 kms just change em with your leads. You will find it will run better and get a little bit better fuel milage.......But if you wanna check em,pull the plugs out one by one and see if they have a correct gap between the tip and the diode...Normally there is a plate under the bonnet specifieng the gap...Check to make sure the plug sint melted or all black. It should be a greyish brownish colour.

    I have a 02 gti vr6 after hitting a puddle?

hey i asked about my situation bfor and got great help i changed my oil, sparkplugs, battery and turned over the engine to let the water shoot out thru the holes and now got my car to run......now the problem is that its lagging power and the engine makes a clinking noise and the exhaust smells funky like fireworks kind of so im wondering if i have a bent valve and if this sounds like it can i drive like this until i can get enough money to rebuild the head or what should i do and around how much will this cost or any other cheaper solutions.....thanks guys who helped me earlier w thisI have a 02 gti vr6 after hitting a puddle?
sounds like you were fordging water it will be alright let it run for an hour or so to let it get all the water out and dry off the belts and exaustI have a 02 gti vr6 after hitting a puddle?
if you got water in your cylinders you have big problems. The water will create too much compression and can cause bent rods, and valves. Do a compression check on the motor and see it the head gaskets blew out.

You best start looking for another motor. People will never learn to quit driving through high water. MOst all new vehicles have the air intake tubes down low in the grill so when you go through water it sucks it right in the engine and trashes the motor.

  • 1978 PE250 not getting full power?

I have a 2 stroke PE250, when I start it, it does not get full power. It starts up pretty easy but just doesn't give the power it is suppose too. I know it could need a top end I suppose but I was wondering if anything else can cause this lack in power. A few things I currently do not have the boot that goes from the airintake to the carb connected and was wondering if this could be a result. I have already changed out the sparkplug. The acceleration cable is loose but does still seem to work properly. How can I check compression myself, will that let me know if i need a new top end or maybe the timing may be off.1978 PE250 not getting full power?
You're not running an air filter?

Without a filter, dirt enters the engine through the carburetor and wears out all the internal parts - including the piston.

You can purchase a compression tester from Sears, Harbor Freight, etc. be sure to get the correct spark plug thread size. You should get at least 100 psi after 5 or 10 kicks.

My guess is you'll need to bore it. But unless you have a good quality air filter, the damage will occur again.

Figure out a way to attach a filter, then worry about a rebuild.

If the throttle cable is stretched, it may not be opening the slide completely when you've got the throttle wide open.

Timing is static on these - no way to change it, so it wouldn't be off.

2001 YAMAHA R1 STARTING PROBLEMS - PLEASE HELP?

I basically bought a 2001 Yamaha R1 in December for a really cheap price and what really attracted me to the motorcycle was very low kilometers. I live in Toronto So I basically purchased the motorcycle on december 31st 2009 (so it is very cold outside at that time -10 atleast)

I bought it from guy who basically had the motorcycle in his backyard in the freezing cold, at first it hesitated to start when i went to see the bike.It eventually started when i told him that in order for me to buy the bike he would have to bring it inside and see if it starts (so it did after a few trys)

So I purchased it and i knew it needed a new battery and a few things so i took it in to the mechanic because i was having starting problems with it. The mechanic basically changed the tires, sparkplugs, new battery, stator and oil change. So basically bike was running when it came out of the mechanics and would start every now and then as I would start it.

Now that the weather is nice, I take my motorcycle to the gym and around. But the thing is it has deceived me a few times as it didnt start. I rode it to the gym and came out it wouldnt start. Then after embarrasing my self, i opened the seat and started touching things like i knew what i was doing and it some how started.

Next day same thing, It wouldnt start in the garage and then i did my voo doo and touching of the battery and it started .

Now I am not trusting my bike as I think it would deceive me again, Does anyone know what could be wrong?

i have a new battery and stator so that is out of the question, my mechanic said he cleaned the carbs when i took it there and the spark plugs are also changed.

ONE OTHER THING I'D LIKE TO ADD IS THAT WHEN I START MY MOTORCYCLE I HAVE TO HOLD THE STARTER BUTTON AND GIVE IT GAS OR ELSE IT WOULDNT START. HOW CAN I JUST GET IT TO START BY PRESSING THE BUTTON JUST ONCE?

So Obviously ive got a few problems can any one help?2001 YAMAHA R1 STARTING PROBLEMS - PLEASE HELP?
    You use %26quot;basically%26quot; a lot2001 YAMAHA R1 STARTING PROBLEMS - PLEASE HELP?
If I'm understanding you right, fiddling with the battery makes it start? Clean your battery terminals, tighten them down, check all your fuses for corrosion, and check the wiring to the starter.

As for it starting, you should be using the choke instead of throttle to start it up, and letting it idle until its warmed up. You didnt say if you were choking it or not, but it sounds like you arent.

I have a 2001 Suzuki Savage LS650P. Can anyone tell me how to access the sparkplug so I can change it?

Its awhile since I sold my Savage...I had a 1986 model.%26amp; as far as I can remember......all you do is pull off plug lead %26amp; use a long sparkplug socket...or a plug spanner %26amp; extension bar from a socket set...

2001 Lexus RX 300 Spark Plug Exchange How to?

I own a 2001 Lexus Rx 300 and was changing out the Sparkplugs on it, but got stuck.. I got three of them replaced (the ones in the front), but I have absolutely no idea how to get to the rear ones... HELP2001 Lexus RX 300 Spark Plug Exchange How to?
The other three spark plugs are on the back of the engine behind the intake manifold. It's a tight space and you will want to do it when the engine is cooled off.

First you need to remove the PCV valve and hose connected to the intake manifold(PCV valve is is located on the passenger side of the engine bay).

If the car has cruise control, probably does, to get the extra room it may be worth the effort to disconnect the cruise control cable from the throttle body and move it out of the way.

Now you should have a clear path to get the plugs in the back. You'll need a 10mm socket to get the rear coils out, just like the front. You can just get them loose and move them out of the way.

I find it's easiest to get the plugs out using a small 3/8 drive ratchet, 2- 2%26quot; extensions and a swivel spark plug socket. Attach the spark plug socket to one extension and drop it in the spark plug tube, then attach the other extension and break loose with the ratchet and twist out by hand.

    Hope this helps.

How do I tune up my Onan Microlite 4000 generator?

Do i just change the oil and sparkplugs? or is there something more that i have to do?How do I tune up my Onan Microlite 4000 generator?
I believe that the gas does not stay right at the fuel pump for that period of time. My generator does the same thing as you stated. If I go out the next day it starts fine. In your Onan manual they describe how to prime your generator before starting if it has been sitting. It recommends to hold the switch in the stop position for a few seconds to prime the unit. How do I tune up my Onan Microlite 4000 generator?
Right off the bat you have my respect.

Very few people think of changing the oil in small utility engines.

I'm not familiar specifically with the Onan Microlite generator. I don't know if you're dealing with an antique that's 50 years old, or the latest greatest thing that just rolled off the assembly line.

If it has an old Briggs %26amp; Stratton, the points are underneath the flywheel The flywheel is on a conical shaft with a key in a groove. It can be a bit tough to get off if you don't have a wheel puller, but once you get it off, you can surface and gap the points like you would on a Chevy. 16 thousands clearance will do. The factory spec is probably different, but I've never bothered to look into it.

If it's a modern machine, it's probably electronic ignition, and it won't need attention . . . ever. Just change out the plugs . . . and the oil.

Lawn Mower won't start. Any suggestions?

It's a Craftsmen 22 inch. This will be it's 3rd summer. Oil is fresh. Gas is fresh. New Spark Plug. However, last year I had to spray out the air filter and let it dry. Now here's what's happened recently. My roommate started it and it ran for less than a minute, then died. We changed the sparkplug, etc... I cleaned the air filter and let it completely dry. It sounds 'normal' whenever I try to start it but it just won't start. Do you think maybe I need to buy a brand new air filter (this summer I know where to get one - couldn't find one last summer)? Even though I've cleaned it maybe it's still clogged or something? Someone said a line or something is probally clogged from all the dust and pollen in the area but I don't know what lines or how to unclog them or if this is even the problem. Please, any suggestions would make me a happy camper :)Lawn Mower won%26039;t start. Any suggestions?
Remove the spark plug and attach it to the plugwire. Let it hang loose up against the motor. Get someone to yank on the motor while you look at the sparking end of the plug. Make sure spark coming out. If it is then do this: Shoot a little gas into the sparkplug hole and re-install the plug. Give it a yank and see if it starts. If it starts but only runs 10 seconds then you probably have a loose dip tube in the gas tank or the venturi is stopped up.It very well could be a bad filter. Try cranking it without the filter. If it runs then stick the filter back in and see if it stays running. If you have a priming bulb on the side of the venturi make sure it is not cracked or leaky. If it is then the carb won't prime and it will never crank.Lawn Mower won%26039;t start. Any suggestions?
If it started, you do not have any issues with the spark, or spark plug. The problem is that the carburetor is dirty and needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Best to take it to a small engine shop and get the job done right instead of wasting your time with the guesses you have received from others here on Yahoo Answers. They obviously don't know squat.Lawn Mower won%26039;t start. Any suggestions?
take the air filter off stick a pencil or nail whatever ,to hold the float open(its in the carburetor, round opens and closes) try starting, if it starts, then air -gas-flow problem.if it doesn't,shoot a small amount of starting fluid in that carb and try and start it,if starts definitely not getting fuel. now if still not starting then no spark, check plug wire ,kill switch if has one ect.good luck....Lawn Mower won%26039;t start. Any suggestions?
not the filter you have to find spark or gas look in the carburetor does have gas in it? take the wire off the spark plug try to start It do you see any spark from the wire you took off to the plug if you have spark and gas it has to startLawn Mower won%26039;t start. Any suggestions?
It might not be getting fuel.

Is the handle-hold-down switch/cable working? If the cable broke near the switch at the motor, the mower may think that no one's at the handle.Lawn Mower won%26039;t start. Any suggestions?
your not alone, All they sell is junk anymore is the problem! I have went Thur several lawn mowers and weed eaters in the last 5 years all new and treated with care but tear up for no reason. Plastic carb's, coils burn out and no its not your filter keeping it from running it's the manufacturers making it to tear up. If you spend enough money on one you might get one to last half as long as a 70's model. Sorry had to vent but it's true. they wont make them to last like they did before I retired a mower I used for 15 years and now they wont run for 15 months! feel better?

How hard is it to get the sparkplugs out of a 1997 grand am se? They have not been changed for 70K miles.?

The car has a total of 170K on the clock. Also if someone has semi- deatiled instructions on changing them and the correct sparkplug gapping that would be great. Thanks for the help. How hard is it to get the sparkplugs out of a 1997 grand am se? They have not been changed for 70K miles.?
auto parts store can give you the correct gap. What you really need to be careful of here is galling the threads when you remove the old plugs. Steel plugs that have been in an aluminum head that long may have dielectric welded themselves in. When you go to remove them, they should break loose tough but quick, then come out fairly easily. If they are pretty tight continuously, you are bringing the aluminum threads out with the plug. Bad news! You would then need to get them helicoiled, which doesn't usually work anyway, which leaves you looking to replace the head. I'd soak the plug wells with PB Blaster overnight before I try to get them out, then if they feel like they're galling spray in some more PB, thread them back down and PB them again. Good luckHow hard is it to get the sparkplugs out of a 1997 grand am se? They have not been changed for 70K miles.?
depends on if it is a 4 cyinder or a 6 cylinder. the 4 cylinder is easy to do. the rear plugs on a 6 cylinder are a pain in the *** to get to. you practically have to lay on top of the motor to get to them by reaching behind the engine. not sure about the gap, but if you buy platinum plugs they should be pre-gapped. check at the parts store. also, change the wires along with the plugs if it has that many miles on it.How hard is it to get the sparkplugs out of a 1997 grand am se? They have not been changed for 70K miles.?
those are the easy ones to change out just squirt some wd-40 in around the plugs and let them soak a few minutes before you try and remove them, they will come out fairly easy,if they feel like their binding squirt some more wd in around them that will help loosen those up, they get carbon built up around the few threads that protrude in to the combustion chamber and this makes them stick sometimes, just take your time with it and don't force them out, once broken loose they should turn out easy without no resistance on them, when you install the new ones use a little anti seize on the threads of the new ones and that will make them come out easier the next time you have to change them, good luck.

My bike is becoming harder and harder to kickstart. Any ideas on how to fix this?

In the last 2 weeks i've changed the sparkplugs, points, new carburetor, battery.

the starter doesn't really work (most of these yamaha's have this problem)

No problem popping the clutch and starting it that way, or keeping it started. Just kick starting. Even after it's been ridden for awhile it's still hard to re-kick start. All electrical works great, no engine problems only issues are with the kick start. Typicaly takes 20+ to finally get it going, and requires me to play with the choke as well.

Could be a bunch of things, but I would start with a leak down test. It will tell you a lot and is worth the 100 bucks if you have a compressor. It can tell you if it is the rings, intake or exhaust valves leaking. This is a good link to start with!

Only one new carburettor? Generally you should replace the set (i.e. in this case both of them). You must have the first of the 400s. Mine was the same year, but last of the 360s. Never had any problem with the electric start, even after tens of thousands of kilometres. Sounds like it just needs a proper tune-up; timing, and carbs adjusted.

Actually, just remembered; on mine, there was a vacuum hose that ran from one of the carbs to the fuel petcock. It came off once and caused similar problems to those you describe

    I need help with a 2001 VW GTI V6....?

i just bought this car and after doing a full tuneup it still runs like a piece of crap. weak power, acceleration is not smooth, and sometimes it dies on me when it idles. for the tuneup i changed the sparkplugs, air filter, fuel filter, cleaned the mass airflow sensor, and changed the oil. the sparkplug wires look fine to me.

the check engine light is on so i brought it in for a diagnostic and they gave me the following codes after running it on the computer: 0113, 0102, and 1142. the guy told me to clean the %26quot;intake air temp sensor%26quot; but i can't find it. i found the mass airflow sensor and cleaned that with a spray and put it back in....

how can i fix this darn thing? where is the intake air temp sensor?

also, for extra credit answer the following questions:

    1. how do i get the %26quot;airbag%26quot; error light to turn off? can i just take out a fuse?

    2. how do i get the seat heaters to work? i checked the fuse and it's fine, but they still dont get hot.I need help with a 2001 VW GTI V6....?
Those are some strange codes, I've never seen them, and I've seen a lot of codes on Mk4 GTI's. There's a chance your MAF sensor may be dead, but I would not be sure enough to suggest replacing it. It's one of the two most common parts on your car to fail. The intake air temp sensor is on the intake manifold IIRC.

There is no way to get rid of the airbag light short of getting whatever is broken fixed. You could take apart the dash and take the bulb out.

Sounds like you need a trip to a good VW shop. Also, try posting these issues on the vwvortex.com forums. They are by far the most popular VW forums out there, some very knowledgeable people on there.I need help with a 2001 VW GTI V6....?
if you want to keep your cars for many years buy yourself a Haynes Repair Manual. there you will get all the answers to your questions. it will tell you what codes mean too.

02 GMC Envoy shaking when it stops..?

My envoy is shaking pretty bad every time it comes to a stop. I recently changed the sparkplugs and the gas filter and it is still doing it, i was told it could be the engine mount. If it was the engine mount how much could it cost to install it? And if it is not the engine mount what else could it be?

Please help. Thanks!!!02 GMC Envoy shaking when it stops..?
I have had many different kinds of cars, generally speaking a car that is shaking has a miss somewhere, you need to take it to a real mechanic, you could have anything from a bad plug wire, to a dirty sensor, also the type of gas you use helps play a role, cheapo gas from the el cheapo station, can be full of water and tiny bits of crap, which over time can plug up the small holes in fuel injectors, but first, eliminate if it is a plug wire, or a cap and rotor problem, then figure out which cylinder is misfiring at idle, there could be several reasons I only mentioned the common ones good luck a broken motor mount is not going to make the car shake,02 GMC Envoy shaking when it stops..?

    Yup.

Warped brake rotors.02 GMC Envoy shaking when it stops..?
don't worry, engine mounts are very cheap. installing it may be another story. if you hear and feel a thud whenever you suddenly gun the motor, then it's definitely a mount. But I think it may be an unbalanced engine which smooths out at higher rpms. maybe its not firing on all cylinders, you may notice a decrease in horsepower and the car might sound different.02 GMC Envoy shaking when it stops..?
    your rotors are warped. they need to be %26quot;turned%26quot;

How to set the timing on a 1990 kawasakiklr250?

one day my dirtbike was running fine then i parkes it and changed the sparkplug and when i tryed to turn it on the gas started shooting out of the carburatorHow to set the timing on a 1990 kawasakiklr250?
Sometimes when a bike sits for a while the floats in the carburetor get stuck open. Take the carburetor off and clean it out good and drain any bad gas from the tank. Also, check your jets for any clogs. To check the timing, line the mark on the timing chain up with the mark on the sprocket.

Go to the library and look in Chiltons Auto Repair manual. If you can't look at the engine and see how to change the spark plugs, there's some cunning trick to it. You've done the job before on other engines, so explaining replacement isn't necessary. Something is probably in the way that you can remove or work around. It's best to know what to do as well as what to not do.

The engine was assembled at the factory by who- engineering graduates? No. Ordinary guys who got showed the way- highschool drop-outs could do it with being showed how once or twice. Before you give up or get too creative, get the straight story from the manual. The plugs may be hard to remove from carbon deposits on the threads, so be careful. It's best to soosen and retighted them annually to prevent this. I don't think you're stupid. I do think GM is cunning and Mr. Goodwrench is a crook.

$350? Expect the job to be no walk in the park. That's about 3 hours labor. In my crystal ball I see long extensions, universal joints and maybe a floor jack. When you're through come back and tell us if the DIY was worth it, or should others bite the bullet and pay.

How long does a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004 last?

I have a j g cherokee 2004, and I was wondering how long do they last and what kind of maintenance should i be doing to make sure it lasts as long as it can.

I have 160k miles on it (bought brand new in 03) , and the engine runs fine, and the transmission isnt slipping, i regularly change the oil every 3k miles and did one %26quot;tune up%26quot; where I changed the sparkplugs. Thats all the maintanence I have done to it. So what else should I be doing and how long can i expect this jeep to keep going.

they are pretty tough cars as long as you keep them happy. Specially change oil and filter always at recommended interval and always use recommended oil type. I have mine at 160K and i run on dual fuel (LPG/Petrol) and got no issues... they say .. once a Jeep owner , always a Jeep owner!!
